Noles win their fifth straight, hold off the Cardinals

"This is one of the most unselfish teams you will ever see…"
#FSU Basketball continues their hot streak as they picked up their fifth straight win this past Saturday by knocking off #16 Louisville 80-75 in overtime inside The Tuck. The energy was electric during this game and it wasn’t quite up there with the Duke game back in January, it damn sure helped #FSU protect their home court and continue its impressive run at home. #PackTheTuck

45-3 at home in the past 48 games. That is amazing. It’s amazing to think about that considering #FSU has never really been known as a basketball school. We like to say we have become once after the dismal 2018 football season. I was personally at the game on Saturday and this was the second time this year we had a complete sellout. I can still say that my voice is still hoarse from the game yesterday. It was a back-and-forth game where #Louisville would jump out to a lead and we would dig deep and fight back as we always do. I always love that there is no quit in this team.
We trailed by 10 in the second half and behind the excellent performances of Terance Mann and Mfiondu Kabengele we were able to force overtime and eventually hit clutch free throws that would eventually lead us to victory. I will say this. Kabengele is easily our best player and I’m really going to miss him next year when he goes to the #NBA. This is a guy who wasn’t really even on any NBA scouts radar until the Duke game where the scouts were obviously there to check out Zion, RJ Barrett and Cam Reddish. It’s nice to know Kabengele has a bright future ahead of him because he truly deserves it and is one of most talented players.
This game wasn’t FSU’s best shooting performance of the season. We shot under 40% from the field and we struggled to make free throws until overtime and then we decided we couldn’t miss free throws. 30.4% from three point range…also not a good stat. Also…what the hell has happened to PJ Savoy? His shot has been off lately and I would suggest less playing time if he is having problems with his shot. I also like the time distribution between Kabengele and Koumadje.

It’s hard to think people were ready to abandon ship on this team after a 1-4 start in the ACC. We skip ahead to a five game winning streak and we stand at 6-4 in ACC play. Our next two games against Wake Forest and Georgia Tech are both very winnable games and it is very likely that we could be 8-4 and reach 20 wins on the season. I will also say that I did happen to see that Dick Vitale was calling our game. We all know how I feel about Vitale and when I heard him on TV saying that the crowd needed to get into the game more….I can’t. Is he too old to remember that we have one of the best home records in recent history? Tighten up old man. Show some respect to #FSU and The Tuck. I am serious about that and it’s definitely not #UNBELIEVABLE.
