Championship Weekend 2023: And Then There Were Four

I will start off this blog with one final DUUUUUUUVAL. Hell of an effort my Jags gave against the Chiefs last weekend. Losing sucks but I love that team and they never stopped fighting and the future is bright. Enough about that. Four teams remain on the road to the desert which ends on February 12, 2023 with Super Bowl LVII. My quick breakdown and picks for the two games.

NFC Championship Game

San Francisco 49ers at Philadelphia Eagles (Sunday 3:00 p.m. on FOX)

One of the best offenses in the league going against the best defense in the league. Something has got to give. 49ers are making the second straight trip to the NFC title game while the Eagles make their first appearance since 2018. The 49ers are hot right now as the Brock Purdy led team hasn't lost in over three months. The Eagles are coming off a blowout win over the Giants but this week should be much closer. Eagles need to start fast against this defense. Should be close but our friend of the podcast Joe Pepe would like this prediction of "Fly Eagles Fly!" Eagles win 20-17

Crew Picks: Eagles: Chris/Chase/Jose/Kevin

AFC Championship Game

Cincinnati Bengals at Kansas City Chiefs (Sunday 6:30 p.m. on CBS)

"Better send those refunds!" Joe Burrow continues to be on the coolest QBs in the league. The Bengals look to repeat as AFC Champions and make a second straight Super Bowl apperance. Those damn Chiefs. Five straight AFC Championship games and before that, the Patriots made seven straight. Geez. I'm looking forward to this game more than the first one. The Mahomes (even injured) and Burrow matchup should be good. Can Joe Cool make it four straight against Mahomes? This will be a high scoring game but I think he will! Burrow and the Bengals edge the Chiefs 34-31.

Crew Picks: Bengals: Chris/Kevin Chiefs: Chase/Jose

There it is. I predict that Super Bowl LVII will be the Eagles vs. Bengals. Once my team is out, my interest drops a bit but I always still watch and want some exciting games. I don't need to see an 38-7 or 45-10 blowouts. Let us hope for another exciting weekend of football leading up to the Super Bowl. Who do you think will win? Let me know in the comments! Yay football!
