Wildcard Weekend 2025: The Road to NOLA Begins

Writer's picture: Chris Howcroft Chris Howcroft

It’s that time of year again! The NFL Playoffs are back. Another year for me that the Jaguars suck and won’t be appearing this year. Two members of the podcast are happy as their team is back in the playoffs. The road to New Orleans starts this Saturday and here is my quick breakdown and predictions for the six wildcard matchups.

Los Angeles Chargers @ Houston Texas (Saturday 4:30 p.m. on CBS)

It wouldn’t be Wildcard Weekend without the Texans playing their annual Saturday game. They are appearing in their eighth straight Saturday wildcard game. Houston finished the regular season 10-7 for the second straight year while the Chargers finished 11-6 and won their last three to end the season. It should be a close game but my personal bias I hope the Chargers blow out the Texans. Chargers win in a good start to the weekend 21-20.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens (Saturday 8 p.m. on Prime)

The second Saturday matchup is an AFC North showdown. The Ravens finished the season 12-5 and their third straight 10 win season while the Steelers limp into the playoffs at 10-7 and losers of their last four games. I don’t think this one is going to be close as the Steelers offense has been struggling and Lamar Jackson and the Ravens offense is just too good. Ravens send the Steelers home quietly 34-13.

Denver Broncos @ Buffalo Bills (Sunday 1 p.m. on CBS)

The first of three Sunday matchups begins again in Buffalo as the Bills host the Broncos. The Bills finished 13-4 and broke 40 points four times this season. The Broncos sneak in as the 7 seed and finished the season 10-7 and enter the playoffs for the first time since 2015. I also think this game is going to be ugly. I think the Bills are just too good and are going to blowout the Broncos. Bills win easily 38-17.

Green Bay Packers at Philadelphia Eagles (Sunday 4:30 p.m. on FOX)

A good Sunday afternoon matchup that two podcast members will be locked into. The two teams met in Week 1 and the Eagles won that game 34-29. The Eagles finished the season 14-3 and their fourth straight playoff appearance. The Packers finish the season 11-6 and some injury issues in the final game are cause for concern. The Eagles have won the last two matchups against the Packers and it’s a tough matchup for the Packers. I think it will be a close game but I think the Eagles will be too much. Eagles win 27-20.

Washington Commanders @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Sunday 8:00 p.m. on NBC)

This should be a fun game on Sunday night between the Commanders and the Bucs. The teams met week 1 with the Bucs getting the 37-20 win. The Commanders finished the season 12-5 and won their last five games. The Bucs finished their season 10-7 and are making their fifth straight playoff appearance. I have been debating this matchup and I do think it will be high scoring and will come down to the very end. Jayden Daniels vs. Baker Mayfield should be fun to watch but in the end I think the Commanders squeak out the win on the road. Commanders win 28-24.

Minnesota Vikings @ Los Angeles Rams (Monday 8 p.m. on ESPN)

The final Wildcard Weekend game happens on Monday night between the Vikings and Rams. The Vikings finished the season 14-3 while the Rams finished 10-7 and won five of their last six games. The teams met in LA this season with the Rams getting the win 30-20. This should be a good game and the FSU fan in me loves the Rams defense including Jared Verse and Braden Fiske. I’m picking my only major upset of the weekend as I predict the Rams to knock off the Vikings. Rams win 34-31.

Crew Picks:

Rams: Chris/

I have picked the Chargers, Ravens, Bills, Eagles, Commanders and Rams. My cheesehead friends will be focused on Sunday afternoon to see if the Packers can pull off the upset. I will be watching with no team in the fight. Chaser is just ready to be done with all things football and if I had to guess…Jose is probably still not giving a fuck. Who do you think is winning the games? Let me know in the comments. FOOTBALL!
