End of the Desert Road: Super Bowl LVII

The road to Arizona ends this Sunday with Super Bowl LVII. It will feature the Kansas City Chiefs against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Chiefs will be playing in their third Super Bowl in the last four years and the Eagles return to the big game for the first time since 2018. Each team finished the regular season 14-3 and were the top seed in their conference for the NFL playoffs. Here is how each team got there:

Kansas City Chiefs Road to Super Bowl LVII:

-The Chiefs knocked out my Jaguars 27-20 in the Divisional Round. I personally hate it but it was a gusty performance from an injured Mahomes. Those damn piss missiles he throws (HUGE callback to Episode 1 of the podcast). They out-gained the Jags 362-349 in total yards and forcing two turnovers helped the Chiefs reach their fifth straight AFC Championship game.

-The latest chapter of the new Chiefs/Bengals rivalry was a good one. a 23-20 victory saw the Chiefs losing streak to the Bengals finally snapped and the emotion was all over the field postgame. All the trash talking and even calling the Mayor of Cincinnati a jabroni (oh Travis Kelce). Mahomes had an amazing game going for over 300 passing yards and two TDs. Bad ankle and all. Only positive so far is I have yet to see Jackson Mahomes on my TikTok FYP. Hopefully I didn't just jinx it.

Philadelphia Eagles Road to Super Bowl LVII:

-The road for the Eagles was a bit easier than the Chiefs. They started off by dominating the New York Giants 38-7 in the Divisional Round (sorry JC). Eagles led 28-0 at halftime and it was pretty much a wrap. They out-gained the Giants 416-227. It completed a clean sweep of the Giants by going 3-0 against them this season and outscoring them 108-45. This sends the Eagles to their first NFC Championship game in five years.

-The Eagles seem to dominate the San Francisco 49ers 31-7 in the NFC Championship game but it was tied 7-7 at one point. The 49ers nearly ran out of QBs and it was almost seeing that either CMC or Juszczyk was going to be the next QB up. a 24-0 run by the Eagles sealed this game and especially since the 49ers couldn't throw the ball. CMC can only do so much and the Eagles out-gained the 49ers 269-164 and caused three turnovers to get past the 49ers.

Quick Facts and Predictions:

+ Total points scored during the regular season: KC-496. PHI-477

+ Total points allowed during the regular season: KC-369 PHI-344

+ All-time series recored between the two teams: KC leads the series 5-4

-Last meeting: 2021 with the Chiefs winning 42-30

-Chiefs are currently on a three game winning steak against the Eagles

-The Eagles haven't beaten the Chiefs since 2009

The last football until August (unless you are into the XFL or USFL which I'm not). Who will win it all and hoist the Lombardi Trophy? Here are the predictions from the crew:

Chris: Chiefs 31 Eagles 27

Kevin: Chiefs 24 Eagles 21

Jose: Chiefs 31 Eagles 30

Jason: Chiefs 13 Eagles 7

Chase: Chiefs 27 Eagles 24
