Fall 2021 Movie Preview: Ten Movies You Need to Watch

This fall/winter is loaded with plenty of movies coming out due to numerous postponements and delays (fucking Covid) but I have made my updated list of movies you should check out this year. I had originally only chosen five but hey, it’s my list and I couldn’t just pick five so now you get ten.

Reminiscence

This is one of my sleeper picks for one of the better movies of 2021. I get strong Inception and Interstellar vibes from this trailer. An interesting concept and Hugh Jackman at the lead role and it is directed by Lisa Joy, Christopher Nolan’s sister-in-law so we should see some of the Nolan trademarks in this film (Release Date: August 20th and streaming on HBO Max).

Candyman

The horror fan in me can’t wait to watch this. It has been delayed three times since the original June 2020 release date. A sequel to the 1992 film of the same name and written by Jordan Peele (Get Out, Us) you know this will be creepy. I will definitely be watching the original film before seeing this. “Dare to Say His Name” (Release Date: August 27th)

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

The 25th film in the MCU and honestly that is all I know. The trailer looks promising and we can be honest...it’s Marvel so I’m going to watch. The rumor is this will have some of the best fight sequences and I’m curious to learn more about the Ten Rings. The second of three Phase Four MCU films being released this year. (Release Date: September 3rd)

The Many Saints of Newark

Hell yes! I’m currently on the last season of The Sopranos (first viewing) so this release date is perfect. A prequel showing the early years of Tony Soprano and his actual son playing him is an awesome tribute to his father James Gandolfini. If you like The Sopranos, this is a must watch. (Release Date: October 1st)

No Time to Die

This movie sound familiar? This movie was on my spring 2020 movie preview before Covid came along and wrecked everything. Several delays later we are finally getting this movie and it will be the final Bond film for Daniel Craig. I’m not as excited but definitely going to watch being a fan of the Bond films. (Release Date: October 8th)

Halloween Kills

“Do you believe in the boogeyman?” HOLY SHIT! If you know me at all, you know I love the Halloween movies. This is easily my most anticipated movie of the year. I was so pissed when it got delayed a year but it’s finally coming out 16 days before Halloween. The 12th film in the franchise and a direct sequel to the 2010 film. You can bet your ass I will be seeing this on opening night! (Release Date: October 15th).

Eternals

Our first movie post-spooky season is the 26th film in the MCU. Both trailers have me sold and like I said before...it’s Marvel so we all know we are going to watch it. I’m looking forward to both Marvel movies since I’m not familiar with ethic comics. I always like seeing how they all connect within the MCU and maybe a surprise cameo. (Release Date: November 5th).

Spider-Man: No Way Home

We all know everyone is stoked for this movie but the real question is WHERE THE HELL IS THE TRAILER?? Marvel is definitely keeping us wondering as of this writing the trailer hasn’t dropped for this movie. My guess is sometime in September or maybe in theaters before Shang-Chi. So many rumors and theories about the film, but all I know is I’m stoked and this is my second most anticipated movie of the year. (Release Date: December 17th).

The Matrix 4

We don’t have a trailer or an official title but that doesn’t mean we aren’t all excited. Hot take from me: I’ve never seen The Matrix Revolutions. I remember starting it but never actually finishing it or remembering what happens. Luckily, I have some time since the film is coming out right before Christmas and I’m sure Netflix or HBO Max or one of the 50 streaming services will have them. (Release Date: December 22).

There you have it. The ten movies I’m most looking forward to coming out for the rest of 2021. What movies are you looking forward to? Did I miss any movies? Let me know in the comments below. Cheers and Happy Viewing!
