If you like fun…you should visit Jamaica

"...we were intoxicated a good portion of the time so that might have had something to do with it"

Sun, sand and beautiful beaches. Welcome to Jamaica! I present to you part two of everyone’s favorite travel blog. The destination we focus on today will be Jamaica and specifically The Riu Resort in Ocho Rios. This was my first experience with an all inclusive resort and it was truly amazing. When we walked into our room at the resort, it literally took my breath away.

The room was spacious, had an outside balcony with a view of the pool and best of all… had a mini fridge full of Red Stripe and Biga orange and four bottles of liquor hooked up in dispensers in the room. The beach was a very short walk away and there was two different pools and a jacuzzi. The beach was simply beautiful, the water was spectacular and with many fun beach activities including snorkeling. The pool had a swim up bar with all free alcohol and it was spacious enough that the pool never felt crowded.

There were countless places to eat which were all included in the resort fee and they were all shockingly good. You also have to take into account that we were intoxicated a good portion of the time so that might have had something to do with it. The staff were fun, hilarious and very accommodating. The resort as a whole was a complete home run.

The one excursion we chose to do was the to climb the Dunns River Falls. It was harder than we thought. You climb 180 feet up a waterfall. It’s not very steep but the hard part comes from how slippery it is. We didn’t fall and neither did the older people around us. You just need to be careful and watch your step. There was also a straw market with vendors there if you felt like getting in some shopping. We spent most of our time at the falls and at the beach resort.

I highly recommend this experience too anyone thinking about Jamaica. The food, drinks, amenities and atmosphere are all top notch. The price of the resort is surprisingly reasonable as well. Overall, I would give the experience an 8.9 out of 10. The only negative I have is being how similar most Caribbean beaches and oceans are and Jamaica not being significantly better than other Caribbean beaches I have been too.
